NEW TRAIN TIMES
OPERATION ON JUNE 4. KING COUNTRY FACILITIES. Alterations in the running of ordinary trains and expresses in the North Island are made in the new time-table which will come into oper- ♦ ation on June 4.
An improvement of importance is the new connection which has been arranged from Ohakune Junction with the 8.37 p.m. Frankton JunctionAuckland passenger train. A new mixed train will leave Ohakune at 10 a.m. daily, except Sundays, arriving at Frankton at 8.4 p.m. This should be of interest to Taumarunui residents in particular, as they will thus
be able to leave there immediately after luncheon and arrive in Auckland at 11 p.m. the same day. For- ' merly the connection at Frankton Junction with the 8.37 p.m. passenger train to Auckland was not available to passengers south of Te Kuiti. Between Te Kuiti and Frankton a
feature of the new time-table is the provision of a fast mixed train, which will leave Te Kuiti daily, except Sundays, at 12.40 p.m., and arrive at Frankton at 3.6 p.m., where a connection will be made with the Tau-
ranga-Auckland express. It has been realised for some time that the gap which existed between the 9.42 a.m. and the 5.40 p.m. trains from Te Kuiti to Frankton Junction was an undesirable feature of the train timetable for this section of the line.
The present express leaving Wellington at 2 p.m. will depart an hour later on Mondays to Saturdays, inclusive. The time of arrival under the new schedule at Frankton will be 4.31 a.m., and after a 10 minutes' stay it will continue the journey to Auckland, where it will arrive at 7.6 a.m. i
