FLOODING AT ARIA
SUBSIDIARY STREAMS.
Mr. W. J. Broadfoot, M.P., wrote to the Minister of Public Works in regard to flooding at Aria due to the blockage of the Mangawhero and Huiatako streams by willows. The Minister has replied stating that when the willow clearing work now in hand on the Mokau River is completed, the men might be diverted to these streams. It was a question of funds, stated the Minister, but he was dealing with the matter.
OHURA-MOKAU ROAD.
DELAY IN METALLING. Mr. W. J. Broadfoot has received the following letter from the District Engineer, Mr. G. W. Albertson:— "In reply to your letter of the 17th inst., I have to advise that a considerable amount of work towards the metalling of the Ohura-Mokau Road in the way of collecting metal has been done, but the river is now swollen where the metal deposits lie, and apart from this it is quite.impossible to do any further carting. The prosecution of this work win therefore have to stand over until next season."
