WAR DEBT TANGLE

FRENCH AND BRITISH PROPOSALS. FOR FURTHER MORATORIUM. (Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 10.45 a.m.) Washington, November 11. The Secretary of State, Mr. Stimson, told a group of newspaper men to-day that the British war debt proposals had been submitted to Mr. Hoover, the President, but any decision would not be made public for two days at least. Sir Donald Lindsay, British Ambassador to the United States, delivered a Note to Mr. Stimson, in which the British Government requests an extension of the Hoover moratorium and the postponement of the payment of 95,000,000 dollars, principal and interest due on December 15. It is believed that the French Ambassador, M. Claudet, discussed a similar Note soon to be delivered regarding the 19,000,000 dollars interest due from France on the same date.
