TO REMOVE TAR OR PAINT.

All traces of tar, paint, etc., can be removed from clothes, etc., in the following way: Buy an ounce of rectified spirits of turpentine from your chemist. Put a few drops on a cloth, and rub gently, and the tar or paint will immediately disappear. It will not take the colour from the most delicate material, and will leave no mark of any description. It is splendid for cleaning suits and costumes. lodine stains are almost impossible to remove from clothes by ordinary methods. If, however, a little photographic “hypo” is dissolved in water (a teaspoonful to half a pint), and the stain steeped in this, it will entirely disappear.
