BRITAIN'S GESTURE
She has been slow tio recognise The world is selfish all, And nations do not care a pin What other nations fall. And so they build their tariff walls To shut the others out. And while they corner gold and goods The common good they flout. Old England, last of all to wake, Shuts not herself apart, But opens out her mother arms And welcomes to her heart Her far-flung folk in distant lands. She calls across the sea: " 'Tis yours alone by right to share In good or ill with me."
