Every tannery manager in the country is keeping a careful watch on the exchange rate, a Woolston manager said last week. The first signs of a change will mean that the price of hides will shoot up. For the past few months the price has remained absolutely steady, but England and the Continent govern the New Zealand markets —hence the anxiety regarding the exchange rate.
