TRANSPORT WORKERS
ANNUAL PICNIC.
VERY SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION,
The transport workers’ annual picnic was held last week-end on Mr. Rothery’s farm. A very large attendance was conveyed by train consisting of ten cars from Te Kuiti. There was also a good attendance from Otorohanga. A very enjoyable day was spent in races and games of all kinds. The Maniapoto Silver Band was also in attendance and rendered a splendid programme, and the members were complimented on the great improvement which they have made by almost everybody - present The children’s committee under Mr. Ongley did noble work attending to all the children. The ice cream stall, under Messrs. Mitchell and Roberts, was in great demand bv both old and young, and both attendants were kept very busy all day. The races for the adults proved very exciting, due to the splendid handicapping of Messrs. O’Connell, Peterson, Corlett and Martin, and the judges had quite a task picking the winners. The committee desires to thank all those people who assisted them to make the picnic a success, with, a special word of thanks to Mr. Rothery for the use of his ideal grounds.
