REVIVAL CAMPAIGN
“THE UNCHANGING GOD.” The seating accommodation in Barraud and Abraham’s Hall was fully taxed on Sunday night, when Mr. Harry Dawson gave his opening address in connection with the Te Kuiti revival campaign. “The world’s changing conditions and the Unchanging God,” was the subject of the missioner’s address, which was based on the text, “Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, to-day, and forever.’” Dealing with the changing conditions, Mr. Dawson pointed out that it seemed as though things had mistaken their seasons. The brightest of sunshine had sud-denly-been succeeded by the deepest of shadows. -Taking a brief retrospect he showed, what good changes had taken place in the history of nations, cities, society, art, and commerce. There had been a tremendous decline in family worship. There were few families to-day who took their young children to the Throne of Grace in prayer, and this was one of the reasons for the decay. Notwithstanding all these changes he was able to proclaim the riches of the unchanging God, who’s doctrines wei'e the same. They lived in the days of apostasy and darkness, when men were substituting other things for the Bible. The Bible, however, could take care of itself, and they could pin their faith to its message of hope and salvation. The unchanging God was still a very present help in times of trouble, and wonderfully sustained His people who put their trust in Him. God’s power to save was also the same. The missioner concluded an appealing discourse by reciting some remarkable changes which had taken place in the lives of men through the power of the gospel. During the service Mrs. Dawson sang sacred solos, which were impressively rendered. To-night the campaign continues in Barraud and Abraham’s Hall at 7.30, and each night this week. On Friday afternoon a children’s rally will be held. Next Sunday night Mr. Dawson will discuss the much-asked question: “What’s Wrong With the World.”
