MAGISTRATE’S COURT
SITTING TO-DAY. A sitting of the local Magistrate’s Court is being held to-day, Mr. F. W. Platts, S.M., being on the bench. DRUNKENNESS. A young native, who pleaded guilty to chai*ges of drunkenness and breach of his pi-ohibition order, was fined 20s and £3 on the respective counts. A charge of drunkenness was also prefei’red against another Maori who was fined 20s and costs. A pakeha, who was liberated on £5 bail last night, was fined 20s for drunkenness and £4 for taking drink into a Maoi'i kainga. The Sei’geant stated that all the offences refei-red to above occurred during the course of a fcangi which is now in progress at the local pa. DOG REGISTRATION. Fi’ancis Colvin Stewart, of Pio Pio, for failing to register a dog was convicted and ordered to pay costs 22s 6d. AFFILIATION. A young native, who was charged with being the father of an illegitimate child, pleaded not guilty and indicated that he would contest affiliation and a maintenance order.
The police stated that complainant had not been served and the case case was accordingly adjourned till next court day.
