A USEFUL PAINT.

One of the most useful things to have in the garage is a small tin or bottle of Berlin black. Obtainable "loose" from most oil and colour depots, it is a paint which dries quickly with a semi-dull finish; when dry and polished with a soft cloth it has an appearance not at all unlike the "black-nickel" finish so widely used nowadays for lamps, horn and certain other fittings. If it is freely applied with a soft brush it dries off without brush marks and is admirable for painting control levers and accessories denuded of nickel, or rusty, the undersides of mudguards, the axles, springs, engine cylinders and particularly the radiator tubes; on the latter it effects a great improvement in the frontal appearance of a car that has seen more than a few month's service.

It is not a proprietary paint, and sixpennyworth in a medicine bottle will go a long way.
