DEATH SENTENCE.
FOR YOUNG BENGALI.
(Press Association. —Copyright.) (Received 11.40 a.m.) Delhi, February 2. Dinesh Gupta, a young Bengali, has been sentenced to death for the murder of Lieutenant-Colonel Simpson, Inspector-General of Prisons in Bengal, during-a raid on the Government secretariat on December 8.
A sensation was caused in Calcutta by the murder of Lieutenant-Colonel Trevor C. Simpson, Inspector-General of Prisons in Bengal, by three young Bengalis. Mr. Nelson, a judicial secretary, was wounded. The assailants entered the secretariat buildings and forced their way into Colonel Simpson's room. They fired six shots, killing him instantly. They then ran along the varandah, shooting wildly, and entered Mr. Nelson's room, and shot him in one leg. One of the murderers poisoned himself and the other two shot themselves and at present are in a critical condition.
