KINGSFORD SMITH’S WEDDING.
AMAZING SCENES AT CHURCH. (Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 10.10 a.m.) Melbourne, this day. Amazing scenes were witnessed at Kingsford Smith’s wedding. A crowd of 10,000, mostly women, fought to catch a close glimpse of the bridal pair. Mounted troopers and motor police were rushed to the scene to rescue the original 20 foot police who were there to preserve order, but were overpowered. A dense throng blocked the traffic and broke the barriers. Some women were injured in the crush and many fainted.
Pickpockets - were active and several arrests were made.
