OPINION OF GENERAL SMUTS

General Smuts, speaking at the South African Party’s National Congress at Bloemfontein, said that what might have been the most brilliant and successful of all the Imperial Conferences had ended in illusionment and disappointment *for every part of the British Commonwealth. General Smuts warned the Government not to tamper again with British preference.
