PERSONAL.
Mr J. E. Broadfoot, chief postmaster at Ohristoburch, will retire on June 9, at the completion of 37 years' service,
Mr and Mrs J. N. Boddie, sear., arrived in Te Kuiti yesterday, and will go through to New Plymouth for the holidays. . Mr W. H. Y. Hall, the headmaster of Otorohanga School, is retiring on superannuation, and, will relinquish his duties there on June 30th.
' Messrs CI. Hitchcock, L. Hitchcock, M. O. Stranger, and M. W. Home leave to-morrow for a fishing excursion to Taupo.
Sir Ernest Rutherford, accompanied by Lady Rutherford, has. definitely decided to pay a visit to New Zealand, and will arrive at Christchurch at the end of September. His main object in visiting the Dominion is to see his parents, who reside in Taranaki. He will stay in New Zealand lor about two months.
Having completed -14 years in the Government service, Colonel J. JEsson, secretary fto the Treasury, Pay-master-General and Receiver-General, has retired on superannuation at his own request, and, has been succeeded by Mr R. E. Hayse, formerly assistant secretary to the Treasury. Colonel Esson lias been offered by the Government and accepted the position of financial adviser to rthe Treasury.
