MAGISTRATE'S COURT CASES.
MARKED DECREASE IN 1924. A marked decrease in the amount of business, both civil and criminal, done at the Te Kuiti Magistrate's Court last year is shown by a comparison with the figures for 1923. Tn 1923, 797 civil cases were dealt with, and in 1924 only 495. As the number in 1922 amounted to well over 1000, it would appear that the statistics strongly reflect the increasing prosperity of the district. There is a similar decrease in criminal cases, the figures being 408 in 1923 and 309 in 1924. During the year £10,937 19s lOd was sued for and £7006 Is lid recovered. Civil fees collected totalled £734 13s 6d and fines £487 10s 10d.
