STOCK SALE REPORTS. WESTFIELD. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their usual weekly sale of fat stock at Westfield on Wednesday, sth September, 1923, as under: — Beef.—A good yarding of nice quality cattle sold readily at late rates. Second quality was scarcely as good. Extra choice ox to £1 14s per lOOlbs, choice and prime 29s to 335, plain and unfinished 20s, prime young cow and heifer beef 27s to 31s, second quality cow beef 19s to 255, rough cow beef 10s to 16s.

Sheep.—A large yarding. Bidding was erratic, but on the whole there was no change in values. No extra heavy wethers yarded. Heavy prime wetheis £2 9s to £2 13s, medium prime wethers £2 5s to £2 9s, light prime £1 17s to £2 4s, unfinished and small wethers £1 12s to £1 15s 6d, heavy prime ewes £1 19s to £2 3s, medium prime ewes £1 14s to £1 19s, light owes £1 9s to £1 10s, plain and unfinished ewes £1 to £1 9s, good hoggets to £2 Is, others £1 Is to 395. Calves.—A fair yarding sold at late rates. Runners £2 12s to £4 15s, heavy vealers £2 12s to £3 lis, medium vealers £1 16s to £2 10s, light vealers £1 to £1 15s, young and fresh dropped 4s to 17s. Pigs.—A smaller yarding sold under keen competition at advanced rates. Heavy bacouers to £4 10s, medium baconers £3 14s to £4, light bacouers and heavy porkers £2 17s to £3 14s, medium and light porkers £1 17s to £2 15s.

Lambs.—The first spring lambs of the year were yarded and sold readily at from 36s to 40s 3d.

FRANKTON.

The N.Z. Loan and M.A. Co., Ltd., report:—

At Frankton yards on Tuesday we had an average entry of fat sheep, and a fair yarding of beef of good quality. Sheep realised higher values, and although there was strong competition for beef, vendors' reserves in some cases could not be obtained. Store cows sold well, also dairy heifers in condition close to profit. We quote:— Good fat cows £7 19s to £9 ? others £4 6s to £5 10s, empty cows in fresh condition £2 8s to £3, store cows £1 (3s to £1 17s 6d, Jersey cross heifers £2 18s, springing heifers £4 to £5 10s, daily cows £3 to £6, prime fat ewes £2 7s 3d to £2 9s 3d, fat wethers £2 6s. Pigs.—A good yarding of fat and store pigs came forward. Bidding on fat pigs was keen, while stores were below last week's prices. Prices realised were:—Heavy baconers £3 10s to £4 6s, medium baconers £2 19s to £3 7s, good porkers £2 5s to £2 16s, unfinished £1 17s 6d to £2 3s, slips (good) 27s to 355, good weaners 16s to £1 Is, others lis 6d to 14s. HAMILTON. The Farmers' Co-op. Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report:— At the Hamilton sale on Tuesday, 4th inst., there was a small entry of sheep, which sold readily, values being quite as good as at recent sales. A pen of extra prime wethers and ewes brought £2 13s; a small lot of very good ewes £2 10s; 3 pens of wethers which could have carried more conditon, £2 4s; good wether hoggets 265, ew© hoggets 275, small hoggets 21s; a line of 136 nice woolled store wetheis, low in conditon, 31s 6d. The ox beef penned was not quite up to the quality of the last- few sales, although some excellent cow beef offered. Good values again ruled, steers selling to £l2 10s, lighter sorts £6 10s to £7 lis. The top price for cows was £l2, good cows £7 17s 6d to £9 10s, other butchers' sorts £5 to £6 12s, forward cows £2 5s to £3 15s, stores £1 7s 6d to £2, yearling heifers 14s to £1 18s, bulls £1 lis to £4 ss. For good daiiy heifers there was a better enquiry, any close to profit selling readily, best making £8 to £l2 10s. (A line of 15 Jersey cross averaged just over £10); others £5 5s to £7 10s. A good Jersey cow made £ll 10s, others £4 15s to £7. A good entry of pigs sold readily, values being- unaltered. Heavy baconers sold from £3 15s to £4 4s, medium £3 10s to £3 16s, heavy porkers to light baconers £2 15s to £3 ss, light porkers £2 8s to £2 12s. The advertised line of pedigree pigs attracted a great deal of attention, the sows selling up to £7 ss, and averaging between £5 and £6, sows with young £B. There was no demand for the boars. Other store pigs 24s to 34s 6d, weaners 18s to 21s. LONDON WOOL SALES. N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hamilton, have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 4th inst.:—

"Full attendance at opening to-day, and competition by Home and Continental buyers good. Prices as compared close preceding series ruled par to 5 per cent higher for Merino wool, fine and coarse, and slipe crossbred, and 5 per cent higher for medium crossbred.
