The Auckland Zoo is to become the home of an aged tortoise. The City Council accepted an offer from Dr A. Campbell Smith to donate one to the citizens probably over 150 years old, and measuring two feet in length and in breadth. The Works Committee reported that the works at the zoo are progressing most satisfactorily. The stone wall on the main entrance has been completed, and the foundation has been laid for the main drive and the elephant's walk. The tigers' arena, elephant house, and tea kiosk are all well under way.
