HYDRO-ELECTRICITY.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the provisional committee of the Waitomo Power Board was held in the Municipal Chambers yesterday, when there were present the Mayor (Mr H. Botliery), and Messrs W. J. Broadfoot, W. G. Somerville, J. W. Muir, and the secretary, Mr J. Kiernan.

Apologies for absence were received from Messrs W. A. Lee and R. M. Somerville.

On the suggestion of Mr Broadfoot, it was decided to hold public meetings at Oparure on Saturday, September 8, at 12.30 p.m., and Hangatiki on Monday, September 10th, at 10.30 a.m., for the purpose of explaining and obtaining signatures to the petition calling on the Government to constitute the Otorohanga township, the Te Kuiti borough, and Waitomo and Otorohanga Counties an electric-power district. , - Messrs Somerville and Muir were deputed to draw up a circular letter to be sent to the ratepayers interested, prior to the meetings being held.

In the matter of obtaining signatures to the petition in the borough was left to Messrs Kiernan and Muir, and Messrs Broadfoot and Somerville were appointed to obtain the signatures of country ratepayers.
