PUKETITI-PIO PIO RAINFALL.
FOR DECEMBER, 1922. The following weather record has been taken by Mr David Watkin, of Pio Pio, for the month of December : The total rainfall for the month of December was 4.99 inches, _ being considerably below the average for the : past six years, which is 7.28 inches. The maximum fall for one day was 1.47 inches on the 27th, when a severe storm passed over this place, accompanied by several slight shocks of earthquake. Rain was recorded on 21 clays. Comparisons :—1916, 4.63 inches ; 1917, 7.81 inches; 1918, 9.42 inches; 1919, 6.78 inches; 1920, 5.68 inches; 1921, 9.40 inches. Although rairi was recorded on 21 days the falls were light with the exception of three days, when over threequarters of an inch fell. Th? month generally was unseasonable, many very cold nights and days with a keen breeze blowing. Earthquakes occurred on severail evenings during the month, i Winds: Westerly 18 days, northerly 4 days; southerly 5 days; calm 4 days. The total fall for twelve months ending December 31st was 96.64 inches, being about 13 inches below the average for the past six years, which is 109.47 inches. Rain was recorded on 197 days, the average being 206 days for the past six years.
