NO MORE DEATH.

A BIBLICAL INTERPRETATION.

PR OPHECIES EULFILLED

Christchurch, March 7

Holy Writ prophesies, the estab-

lishment of the Kingdom of Go,d in the

world. That this prophecy was about to be fulfilled was the main contention

of Mr W. W. Johnston, who addressed a large audience in the Liberty Theatre last Sunday evening. The meeting was held under the auspices of the Christchurch branch of the Interna-

tional 1 Bible Students’ Association. The title of the lecture was “Millions

Now Living Will Never Die.” Mr Johnston quoted largely from

both the Old Testament and the New

Testament, to show that the present

time was to see a great change in the world. First of all, the Great War in 1011 marked the termination of the old order, and the turbulence and unrest since prevailing were the evidences that the world had entered upon a great transitional period. The world's history showed that four great” universal empires had come and gone, and the fifth was about to be estab- . lished. It would endure for ever, as it would be the long-looked for Kingdom of God, over which Christ would reign., and for which He had taught His followers to pray, saying, “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, even as it is done in Heaven.” In that kingdom, God would wipe away tears from off all faces. The Curse of Death. The speaker showed that all the signs of the end of the world (or age) which Jesus gave to his disciples had been in evidence * since 1914. War, famine, pestilence anjd earthquakes (social revolutions) proclaimed the end of the “Gentile times,” and the restoration of the Jews to the 'land of their fathers proclaimed to the initiated that the time for the blessing of all the families of the earth was close at hand. The greatest curse to be removed was the curse of death, and it was for this purpose that the Kingdom of God was to be established. Gc.l was lifting up the veil of ignorance in preparation for the abolition of death, and the study of preventive medicine, the search for the perfect food, and the recent discovery of the potential immortality of cellular tissue were all proofs that mankind was nearing the time, long foretold in the Bible, when death itself would die. Jesus said that the generation which saw the beginning of the fulfilment of these prophecies would also witness their complete fruition; hence he claimed there were millions now living who would never die.
