Own Correspondent. A very enjoyable sociable evening was spent at Mr Larsen's wonlsbed on May 23rd. The occasion was a welcome borne to a number of returned soldiers: —Messrs, Chestnut, Carmichael, O'Donohue, Were, Lareen, Walker, and F. and i. McPeake. As usual the ladies spared no pains in order to make tbe function a thorough success. Dancing, interspersed with vocal items, was tbe order of the nigbt. During tbe supper interval, Mr H. Voyce paid a tribute to the achievements of the soldiers, and welcomed them back to toil. Mr Arnold Thorns officiated as M.C., *nd the dancers made merry tilt the **wee sma' boors," to tbe accompanimet of oinno and accordeon, when, after singing "They are Jolly Good Fellows," the good humoured gathering dispersed with the reminder to foregather for a similar purpose at Waitanguro on Juno 13th.
