MR B. L. HOGG'S POSITION,

APPOINTMENT CONFIRMED

At Thursday's meeting of tbe Waitomo County Couneil, the chairman, Mr J. Wall, referred to the position of Mr H. L. Hogg, acting engineer.

Mr Hogg, said Mr Wall, was appointed acting engineer for six months. He had made it his business to get over as much of the county as possible, and he had been accompanied by Mr Hogg. He could say without fear of contradiction that Mr Hogg bad justified their action in making the appointment. Therefore, they were justified in appointing Mr Hogg permanently. He moved in that direction. Cr P. D. Hargreafes cordially agreed, and seconded th« motion. Mr Hogg had done all he possibly could to meet requirements.

Cr Lee: Mr Hogg has done his level best and I have no hesitation in supporting the motion. Cr Tolme: I'm in complete accord. Cr Willis: Mr Hogg has got ori ygfy well' indeed, and it is nothing but right that he should ba kept on for another six months, as acting engineer.

Ct Were: It's absurd to make the appointment for another six months. The appointment is for good. Tba Chairman: Quite right. The motion was carried. Mr Hogg returned thanks for the appointment, and said he had done the best he could. He would not relax, but try to do better still.
