WAITOMO COUNTY COUNCIL.

MONTHLY MEETING. To-day's meeting of the Waitomo County Council was attended by Cr J. Wall, chairman, and Cts P. Potts, R. Were, E. Tolme, Andrew, P. D. Hargreaves, W. A. Lee, J. Willie, and W. Johnston. CRUSHING PLANT. In response to Mr J. Smyth's offer to sell his crushing plant at Aria, the engineer inspected it and submitted a valuation to the council.

Cr Were strongly objected to the purchase of a boiler included in the offer, which bad not been inspected for two years If a thing was not thoroughly up to date, let it be scrapped. Cr Johnstone: The boiler is really being thrown in. The crushing plant is worth the money offered. The engineer reports that it is as good as new. The chairman: That it the position.

The council expressed itself as being emphatically against buying second-band material as a general rale, but the Baving in this case would be enormous. 03URA-MOKAU ROAD At the last meeting the engineer was instructed to prepare planß and specifications for the expenditure of £I3OO on the Ohura-Mokau road from Aria township to the Mokauiti junction. Owing to pressure of business the engineer was unable to have this completed. Cr Toltne mggested expedition in baving the work done, in order that the coancil might apply for subsidy. The council agreed.

MANGAPOHUE METALLING. In regard to securing the use of the engine used by Mr Rennie to drive the crusher on the Mangapohue road, eaid there was sufficient to do the whole job. The plant was in a central position, and wonld eee the job out. It was a question of what the repairs would cost. Cr Johnstone moved that the engineer, Cr Lee and he investigate tbe matter. Tbe chairman explained that the idea was to acquire the engine with the object of completing the Mangapohue metalling contract. The motion was carried and the committee was given power to act.

MOKAUITI DRAINS

Cr Andrew reported that the work of clearing drains on Mokauiti flat had been done satisfactorily. (Left sitting.) For children's hacking cough, Woods' Great Peppermint Cure.

A clearing sale will be held tomorrow at Pio Pio by the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. It will be held on behalf of Mr A. Mc Murray, who is disposing of the whole of his live and dead stock. It begins at 12 o'clock sharp, and luncheon will be provided.
