FIRE AT OPOTIKI.

A MYSTERIOUS BULLET. IBY TELEGBAPH.—IHESS ASSOCIATION-.] Opotiki, Wednesday. A fire started in the heart of the town at 3.30 this morning, when shops owned by J. C. Arthur and occupied by H. Battle, bootmaker, J. Steptoe, saddler, and a building owned and occupied by H. Larmer, tobacconist, were completely destroyed. A large plate-glass window in the shop owned by W Oakes and occupied by C. Shalfoon, drapers, on the opposite side of Church street was shattered by a distincc bullet hole. The 6re was not considered sufficient to break the window. The police are investigating.
