FAT STOCK MARKET. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:— At Westfield fat stock market on Wednesday beef was penned in less numbers than usual. Competition was very keen, and prices improved, best oxen selling to 48s per lOOlbs, other oxen 44s to 475; best cow and heifer beef 43s to 465; otberß 40a to 425. Steers sold from £ll 10s to £2O 12s 6d, no heavyweights yarded. Calves were penned in full numbers, and sold at last week's prices. Runners sold from £6 10a to £l3 10s, heavy suckers £4 to £5 15s, medium £2 16s to £3 18s, light 30s to 425, small and fresh-dropped 3a to 18s. Sheep were penned in average numberp, and sold at fully last weeks prices; best wethers 40s to 41s 3d for a pen oi: wethers sold on account of Mr Jss. Lord, Marohemo; one wether sold on account; of --the same vendor realised £3 12s, one ewe £3 sfl, one hogget £3 7s, and SS wethers avoraaed £2 10s.
