A mot n- car accident resulting in
the death of Mr Arthur Gvoome, aged .S3, Bon of Mr M. E. Grcome, a well Known eheepfarmer, occurred near Te Aute on Saturday night. Mr and Mrs Groome, Miss K. Mackersey, of I-lsstings, and Mr A. M. Shield, were returning from a duck shooting trip to the Te Onspu and To Ante in a motor car. Mr Shield, ibe owner o* the car, wss driving. Tha car skidded, and went over an embankment, failing on the occupants. Miss MBckersey managed to extricate herself, -»nd went for assistanca. She returned with help half an hour later, when the car was removed.
It was found that Mr Groome bad been panned underneath in such a manner ss to cause death by asphyxia tion. Mr Shield escaped 'With a broken fare-arm, and Mr 3 Groome with a bad shaking. Ati inqcest on <he body of Mr Groome wa3 held at Te Onepu yesterday, and a verdict of "Accidental death, dua to asphyxiation," was retured.
The late Mr Groome had only been married about ten months.
