A regrettable incident occurred at the divisional encampment at Tnkapau after dark last night. The men's tampers had been tried by the wet weather, and they vented their grievances.
The complaints rca'ie were that the men were not allowed to bring mufti into camp to give them a chance of changing when wet. The country units would be'absent for 17 days, instead of 13, according to the regula tions, and the town units for 11 days instead of nine. Insufficent food was also alleged.
After haranguing the lines,, the men rushed to headquarters and assumed a threatening attitude. They wera dispersed by mounted police, who received a volley of sticks and atones.
Colonel Cfcaytor, officer commanding the division, addressed the crowd. He would hear any complaints, he said, if made in a proper munnner. The crowd took a long time to disperse, but eventually quietened duwn and returned to the tents.
