Wellington Monday. Meat. —Generally the market is dull and unsettled.

Mutton. —High prices are restricting business. Prices for North Island have declined from 5d per lb to 4£d por lb. Lamb. —High prices are restricting business, and prices have declined. Other than Canterbury 6Jd per lb. As high as 7d nas been obtained in more than one instance. The demand is chiefly for Australian, which may be quoted Id lower. Beef.—Stocks of New Zealand beef on hand are light, with fair demand. New Zealand hinds 4:£ d, fores -Id. Butter. The market 19 quiet. There is no change in prices for New Zealand, Australian, Argentine, and Siberian. Danish, 125s to 128s. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report: HAMILTON SALE. At Hanmilton, on January 29th, wo had a full yarding of stock, comprising 253 pigs, 2150 sheep, 133 fat cattle, and 350 store cattle. The sale was a dragging one, nobody very anxious to do business. Perhaps the holiday had something to do with it. All classes of stock were easier Jn price. Weaner pigs made 8s to 15s, slips IS'3 to 30s. porkers 35s to 455, fat wethers ISs to 21s, fat ewes 14a to 16a Gd, fat lambs 13a 6d, cull | lambs la Id to 5s Id, store lambs 8s to 9s, fat cows £4 15s to £7 3s, fresh cows £3 15s to £4 10s, two and a half year steers £5 to £5 17s (id, cavles 24s to 31s, smaller sort! 20s. NGARUA WAHIA SALE. At Ngaruawahia, on January 30th, We had an on try of 677 head of cattle and a few hundred sheep. There was a good inquiry throughout, and practically the whole entry was disposed of. Fresh-conditioned three and a half year steers made from £6 to £7 L7a, two and a half year steers Cr> Ids to £5 17s, fat cows £5 la to £7, fresh cows £3 15s to £4 12a, yearling heifers £2 10s to £3 ss, yearling ntoerfl £'2 15s to £3, good calves 27s to 365, fair calves 25s to SOs, two and four tooth withers, 1 chiefly two tooth 14s Gd.
