Own Correspondent. Heavy rain has followed the recent fall of smoke resulting from bush (ires, and the ground is now thoroughly sodden with wate* 1 again. Good burns have rather been the exception thun the rule, and many have not yet burned their bush, hoping for a further spell oi dry weather. For the past three seasons the summers ihave been exceptionally wet and a mass of timber awaits the second fires which cannot be long delayed, and which would come as a boon to sweep the country thoroughly. The Te Kuiti to Marokopa mail time table has been altered so that the mail is run from Te Kuiti end, leaving Te Kuiti Friday morning and arriving in from the coast Tuesday afternoon, and thus giving settlers time to read their mail and reply to it at onee by return, and transact business with Te Kuiti and Auckland in the one week.
