BACKBLOCKS' ASSOCIATION.
CONFERENCE AT TE KUITI
The formation of the Backblocks Local Bodies' Association, which was undertaken about eighteen months ago, resulted in a preliminary conference bning convened at Te Kuiti, and subsequently a further conference was held at Ohurn. The Ohura gathering was largely attended, and a list of recommendations concerning matters affecting local bodies was made and presented to the Government The second annua' conference is to be held at the County Council C.iambers, Te Kuiti, oti Friday. Delegates from all the a (filiated bodies are expected to attend, and various matters of interest to local bodies will be opened up for discussion. Mr A. Scholes, chairman of the Waitomo County Council, has been president of the association since its inauguration, and Mr P. Mora, secretary, and these gentlemen have devoted a great amount of work towards the affairs of the association.
