Attention is drawn to the alteration of date for wool sale which was to have been held on Thursday, February sth. The sale will be held in the concert chamber of the Town Hall, Wellington, on Friday, February 6th, at 9 a.m. Mr Graham has something of interest in our wanted columns. The improvement in the Waitewhena road has enabled waggons to get through this summer and Mr A. Barnett had his clip carted through to Te Kuiti this week per medium of Messrs Stevens and Co's. waggon. During Thursday evening and Friday morning 70 points of rain fell in Te Kuiti. The beneficial results will be appreciated by settlers. The rain waß welcome to those of our townspeople depending upon tanks, as during the last few weeks quite a common occurrence was the carting of water from various favoured places. Much satisfaction was expressed in Te Kuiti howling circles when it became known that Te Kuiti No. 3 team had made a really good showing on the opening day of the South Auckland tournament by defeating two of the team which were regardeJ a being among the best. Seeing that the team includes three first year players the members are entitled to the highest commendation. The fact that they had trained sedulously, and had foregone a considerable amtiunt of pleasure in order to get into condition also entitles them to respect. Mr C. K. Wilson, member for the district, attended the Ohura Show on Thursday, and the following day proceeds to Waimiha for the purpose of going over the Tangitu road with Mr Gavin, inspecting engineer of the Public Works Department. The gentlemen mentioned will probably also inspect other roads in this district. On Monday Mr Wilson leaves for Kawhia in company with the Hon. W. Fraser, Minister of Public Works. The party will return from the coastal town via Otorohanga on February 6th. Mr Wilson will be in the district for a considerable time attending to district requirements.
