KIRITEHERE-MOEATOA.
Own Correspondent,
The trustees of the Marokopa wharf and shed held a meeting recently to consider tenders submitted to them for the erection of a wharf and shed at Marokoppa heads. The sum of £BO has been set aside for this work. A tender for the erection with imported timber was considered too high, and was passed over, the meeting favouring the use of careful selected local totara and rimu, abundance of whieb may be obtained, so it is stated, within easy distance of the Kiritehere road, and thus saving the expense of importing outside timber. Tenders for the squaring and carting of the necessary timber at 27a 6d per hundred superficial feet were accepted, the timber to be laid at the wharf site at the end of three months from date. Separate tenders for the erection of wharf and shed will be issued, so that erection will proceed as Boon as the timber is on the ground. A royalty of 3s per hundred for totara and 2s 6d for rimu will be paid for the inspected and passed article, heart timber only being selected. Tb* chairman will have to keep a eagle eye to business so that timber will be down before winter sets in again, and brings another summer upon us.
