«. BANK OF NEW ZEALAND BILL. SIR JOSEPH WARD FAVOURS STATE BANK. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Friday. The debate on the third reading of the Bank of New Zealand Bill was largely on the lines of previous discussions. Sir Joseph Ward advocated taking the Bank over on terms equitable to the shareholders, and run it as a State institution in conjunction with the lending Departments using a branch in London to raise the necessary loans. The third reading was carried on the voices. The Post and Telegraph Amandment Bill was read a third time, the Opposition taking occasion to urge that the rate of interest on small deposits in the Savings Bank be raised. The House rose at 1 a.m.
