BOROUGH ELECTION.
MR E. MARTIN RETURNED. The poll for the t lection of a councillor to till the extraordinary vacancy on the Te Kuiti borough Council caused by the resignation of Mr L. G. P. Spencer took y.lace yeseterday at the Borough Chambers, Mr F. Edward Lamb being returning officer. A considerable amount of interest was evinced in the election, the contestants being Messrs E Martin and G Elliott. The supporters or both candidates were actively engaged during tn the day in bringing voters to the voting place, and a fairly represent ative Pol! was recorded. The result was announced by the retaining officer at 7.30 p.m., Mr Martin being declared duly elected by a majority of 37 the fieures being—Mr Martin IGI, Mr Eiliottl 12-1.
