WELLINGTON WOOL SALES. [by telegraph.—press association-.] Wellington, Monday. The second series of the wool sales in Wellington opened this morning when there was a large attendance of buyers. The catalogue contained 8300 bales. A feature of the opening sales was the strong competition, for the higher classes of wool, which in some cases were a farthing to a halfpenny better than at the previous sales at the beginning of this month. Yorkshire made strong competition for the medium qualities, which were on about a par with the previous sale. Continental wools were in keen demand, also low grade wools suitable for rugs and blankets. Speculators competed freely at the opening, but prices'were beyond them.
