BOROUGH COUNCIL.
SPECIAL MEETING. A spceial meeting of Te Kuiti Borough Council was held on Monday evening at the Council Chambers. Present—His Worship the Mayor (Mr Jas. Boddie), and Crs Lush, Hardy, Julian, Hetet, Pepene Eketone, King, Young, Somervilie and Stevens. Special Order.—A special order, striking a rate of 2id in the £ to «ov«r interest and sinking fund on the Government loan of £27,270 for streets, drainage, water supply, contingencies, engineering expenses, and acquiring land for public works, was duly passed. The order will be duly confirmed on January 4th'at a special meeting to be then held. Appointment of Engineer.—There were eight applications for the position of engineer to the borougn After full consideration of the merits of all the applicants Mr L. G. P. Snencer was appointed to the position. The matter of preparing an agreement with the engineer was relerred -to the legal and finance committee. It was arranged that the streets and roads committee should meet at an early date to decide upon what works should be gone on with first.
