BIRRELL AND THE LORDS.
OLD BUSINESS UNDER NEW NAME. I3y Telegraph. Received November 25, 9.25 p.m. London, Yesterday. Mr A. Birrcll, M.P., in his election address, said the Lords in a lit of mingled cowardic* and cunning seek to float a new company with the old business under a new name. The hereditary principle was abandoned. The Commons' task was to create a Second Chamber in succession to the House of Lords, who, by their votes, resigned their only title to be there at all. Close beside that question was the sinister fraud of protection, implying dearer food and fewer imports. The Liberals' motto was: "No gambling in the food of the people."
