TE AWAMUTU TENNIS CLUB.

Annual Meeting. Resident Correspondent. The annual meeting of the Tennis Club was held in the Town Hall on Tuesday. The interest evinced in the summer pastime was evidenced by the large number of members present. The Secretary and Treasurer, Mr Warburton. presented his annual report which showed that considerable progress had been made during the last twelve months. The membership had increased in a marked degree as bad the subscriptions. The balance-sheet showed a debit of 14s 2d, but taking into consideration the extent of improvements carried out on the courts, the financial position < is very favourable. The grounds committee. Messrs Wood, Von Stunner, Dr Hendereson, also presented their report. These gentlemen have worked untiringly to have the courts Improved to the greatest possible extent, and considering the limited funds at their disposal, marvellous strides have been made in the direction *f making the grounds what they should be. The report was adopted, and a hearty vote of thanks tendered to the committee for their services. tt was decided in view of the increased membership to at once proceed with the laying down of an additional court. This is a step that should be appreciated by players. An endeavour is to be made to have the new court ready for the opening of the season.
