PRESENTATION AT PIRONGIA.
An Enjoyable Function. Te Awamutu Correspondent. A gathering of a brilliant nature took place at Ptrongia on Friday. July 24th. the occasion being a social gathering to do honour to Miss S. B. Arey. head teacher of the school, on the 6th anniversary of her taking op duties there. A large number of people —parents and ehitdren—were present. Mr J. E. Skuse. chairman of the school committee, accepted the chair and in presenting Miss Arey with a handsome travelling and dressing bag. made eulogistic references to the conspicuous success of the recipient as a school teacher, and said that it was only fitting that they should suitably recognise the ability of a teacher who had done so much to for tber the education of the children. During the evening musical items were contributed by Mrs Walter Bell. Miss Prentice. Miss Brooks, Miss Muriel Russell, Mr E. James and Mr J. Kay. Recitations were also contributed by Miss Mary Hodgson. Mr Ray Dumbell and Miss Eileen Perrin, a diminutive little miss who gave her item in an unmistakable manner. A sumptuous supper was provided by the ladle* and dancing added to the enjoyment of the proceedings.
