HONIKIWI.
Own Correspondent. The weather en Saturday proved too bad for many to turn up at the monthly social. However, a few came, just sufficient to make dancing possible, and among the number Mr Cook, who is a born entertainer, and proved the life of the evening. Dancing was kept up till midnight, most of those present voting that in spite of the weather and absent friends they had had a good time. It was agreed that if possible a dance be held on the Wednesday, when those who had been prevented from attending on Saturday night could come and enjoy themselves. For that nijjht the weather was favourable.and a fair gathering of Euporcans and Maori* mustered, a most enjoyable evening being spent. A song was contributed by Mr H.Wi, and recitations by Miss Budden and Mr W. O'Donnell. Dance music was as usual provided by Messrs Rohi and Puruhau. In the ab-
sence of Mr B. G. Buddon.Mr Cameron proved a most efficient M.C. The gathering broke up at %vith the singing of "Auld Lang Sync." The next dance is to take place on the 30th inst. Mr Hargrcaves. one of the two new setters to take up land in the district has now taken up his residence on his section and shoud prove a welcome addition to the social Kfc of the place. The advent **f the other new settler, Mr Grant, is being looked forward to with interest.
