THE "CHRONICLE."

As promised to our reauers prime hrr.e ago, the Chronicle is henceforth to be issued twice weekly, and Monday hos been decided upon as the extra publishing day. To mark the event of the first Monday's publication, eight pages are being published today, but succeeding issues will comprise only the usual six pages. In today's issue will be found the opening chapter of an excellent serial story entitled ••'Outer Darkness" from the pen of the well known' author, Heclley Richards, and succeeding instalments will appear in each issue. It is gratifying to be able to announce that the development of the distrct has enabled us to increase the publication days, and the fact that the price of the paper is being reduced from twopence to one penny will doubtless be appreciated by our subscribers. It is our earnest desire to keep the Chronicle ' thoroughly abreast of the progress of the district, and assist in bettering the conditions, and furthering the progress of each locality wherein the Chronicle circulates. The increased issue, we believe, will prove beneficial in this respect, as it will increase the opportunities for recording the events of interest, and provide more frequent means of discussing affairs affecting the public welfare. We trust our efforts towards meeting the rqeuirements of the district will be appreciated by our settlers who can rest asured of careful and 'unremitting attention to their interests in every public matter. Correspondents pre specially invited to forward items for Honday'-i issue as well as Thursdays.
