TE KUITI RESIDENT.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Some weeks ago SergeantMajor Coleman visited Te Kuiti with a view of forming a Mounted Rifle Corps, but the movement up till now, has not got the encouragement it deserves. No doubt if the young men of the district better understood .the advantages of joining such a movement, there would be no scarcity of recruits. While dicipline is the first consideration, if the thing is taken up in the proper spirit, young men joining can reap a lot of instruction from it, and pass away many an evening or afternoon pleasantly, which, otherwise, might be spent to their _ disadvantage. I understand that intending members, in order to qualify for capitation, must join before the end of this month, f ap 1 t aij} Be\:fy y/ill tak6"the jiajiies pf' recruits, and I look forward to the time when Te Kuiti will be sending crack shots to the different competitions. —I am, etc., ROHE POTAE.
