VOLUNTARY ORGANISER VISITS KAIKOURA. Mrs AV. Watson, voluntary organiser for the Marlborough Federation of Women’s . Institute, was the guest speaker at thd July meeting of the Kaikoura Women’s Institute, which was held in St. Paul’s Hall on Tuesday. Mrs Watson gave an enlightening address on the work of institutes, and conducted an institute quiz. The president (Mrs E. H Workman) presided over an attendance of 54 members. Two new members and two visitors were welcomed to the meeting. “Greet the day with a smile, and it will leave you with a blessing,” was the motto. The speaker was Mrs J. D. Robertson. The roll call, “The first frock I reinember and why,” was well answered, and some very amusing reasons were given. Birthday parcels were received by Mesdames W. A. Ferry, A. B. Clark and W. Daniels. An amusing sketch, “Charladies’ Chat,” was presented by Mesdames W. A. Stephens and C. V. Ritehie. The hostesses were Mesdames R. Lumsden, C. R. Harris, A E. Evans, li. Kissel, and Clark. Competition winners were.—Three cheese scones: Mesdames G. 11. McMillan and N. S. Mason (equal) 1. Oven cloth: Mrs J. P. Smith. Large bloom: Mrs Workman: Small bloom: Mrs McMillan. Saucer posy: Mesdames Ferry and Workman (equal) 1, Mrs C. E. Taylor 2.
