A. & P. ASSOCIATION

PROFIT SHOWN ON ANNUAL SHOW. A profit of £123 5/2 was shown in the interim accounts for the thirtyeighth annual show which were presented to a meeting of the committed of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association on Alonday evening by the secretary (Air AL O. Aloore). The receipts were shown at £530 4/4, and the expenditure at £406 19/2. The smoke concert showed a. credit balance of £1 4/9. “From the balance sheet it appears that the association has moved forward considerably,” said Air Laidlaw, and the president considered the show would have been a record one in all reapeots had it not been for the change in the weather. G. Humm. Apologies were-received from Mrs J. R, Stanley, and Messrs J. G. Latter, J. F. B. Stronach, and J. Trewin. A motion of condolence was passed with the relatives of the late Mrs W. H. Dalzell, and Messrs E. L. Good and F. J. Hailes. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the deceased. Thanks of Association. The president said that without the assistance of a number of people the association could not carry on, and he wished to publicly thank the following:— Convenors of who canvassed for entries; officials, stewards, and convenors of sections who worked towards the end of the day under unpleasant conditions; transport companies and drivers; Mr Corbett, who acted as transport steward; the stationmaster (Mr A. R. Walker) for the use of the yards; the judges; the Department of Agriculture for staging an exhibition of noxious weeds, etc.; Addington Workshops Dahlia Society for their special exhibit of dahlias; Messrs R. Al Howard, J. A. Johnston, E. L. Garrett, W. F. Perrin, and assistants for arranging the Drill Hall; and Mr J. Burland for organising the smoke concert. • The president reported that Mr N. Rutherford had replaced the “Mendip Hills” Cup, and it was decided to thank Mi- Rutherford for his donation. Annual Ball. The president reported that a profit of approximately £33 would be made on the annual ball. Mr Laidlaw moved that a letter of thanks be forwarded to Mrs Gray and the ladies’ committee for their assistance on show day and in organising the annual ball. Donation to Association. ‘‘ On behalf of the Blenheim competitors I wish to thank your association for the excellent arrangements that you made fol- the comfort of ourselves and our horses,” wrote Mr L. C. Cotter in a letter to the association. Mr Cotter said he also wished to compliment the light horse committee on the excellent way in which the events were run. The president reported that Mr Cotter had made a donation of £lO 10/to the association, and it was decided to thank Mr Cotter for his gift. General. Appreciation of the services rendered by members of St. John Ambulance Association was made by the president, and on the motion of Mr Corbett it was decided to forward a donation of £2 2/- to the association. The secretary reported that he had received some late entries, which he had not accepted. —On the motion of the president and Mr Reid the action Of the secretary was approved. Several recommendations suggesting alterations and additions to the schedule were presented to the meeting, and were referred to the incoming committee for consideration. Mr Chapman said that since the draught horse section had been deleted from the schedule all trace had been lost of the championship cup for that section. It was decided to make further” enquiries, and also endeavour to locate the cup for the pig section. Membership of Association. New members of the association were elected as follows: Mesdames T. S. Critehley, J. W. Walls, Miss J. Stanford, Messrs T. 8. Critehley, L. C. Cotter, G. Hailes, A. D. Lawson, T. J. C. Schroder, J. F. B. Stronach, and J. W. Walls. Five resignations were received, and it was decided to forward letters of appreciation to Messrs W. G. Dalzell and I. W. McGregor for their services to the association.
