Mrs M. 8. Wells arrived back in Kaikoura on Friday evening. During a ten montlis’ absence from New Zealand Mrs Wells visited the United Kingdom and the Continent. Mr AV. E. Smith, of North Queensland, is at present visiting his mother, Airs G. D. Smith,.. Churchill Street. Mr Smith has been in Australia for 21 years, and this is his hist visit to Kaikoura since he left New Zealand. Committee members of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association are reminded that a meeting will be held in the ILS.A. Hrill at 8 o'clock to-night. Tenders close to-day for the privileges at the Agricultural and Pastoral Association's show to be held on March 18. An officer of the Social/Security Department will *be at the Courthouse on Wednesday between 10.30 a.m. and noon. The annual meeting of members of the Hapuku Golf Club will be held in the Grange Road school on Wednesday evening. The Convent fiftieth anniversary (celebrations wil] commence on Thursday with a jubilee Mass at the Church of the Sacred Heart. On Sunday afternoon a garden party will be held in the Convent grounds, when opportunity will be taken to bid farewell to’ the Rev. Father P. J. Hanratty. Mr E, Norman, representing Procters, opticians of Christchurch, will be in Kaikoura on March 2 and 3. Appointments with Mr AV. McD. Baker. The Farmers’ advise that they have OP display gladioli blooms, from which eur«i,s may be ordered for September planting,. Mr s. Lewis, M.N.Z.1.5., advises that he will be visiting Kaikoura. Messages may be left withJAfessrs Wilson, Rofe and Moore. The St. John Ambulance Association’s annual street appeal and stall will be pold on Friday, February 17. Donations of produce, cakes, etef, for the stall will bo gratefully received.
