1944 PATRIOTIC APPEAL
MAKE YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS EARLY. The people of Kaikoura have given so generously to the Kaikoura quota of the National appeal that they can be sure of doing their duty on this occasion. From now on those wishing to give their aid and thus honour the debt to the Fighting Services will experience no difficulty in finding som< - one to whom they can hand their contributions. Past experience has given good proof that the patriotically-mind-ed people of Kaikoura do not require to have to be chased with a receipt book, and it is hoped that canvass.ng will be avoided. Instead, it has b?en arranged for some of the Inisiness firms to accept donations and issue official receipts, thereby assisting electors who are ’unable to call at the County Office. AVe owe it to the soldiers who are fighting so valiantly overseas to assist the providing amenities for them, and we feel sure that it will never be said that the people of Kaikoura have let U’-cm down. Make your donations early. The credit balance in ‘hand on Augujl 1, 1944 was £1292 14/10( including £55 10/7 paid in by the Red Cross Societv for sick and wounded.
