HIDDEN TREASURE RECOVERED.
LONDON, July 24. “As the war moved from the stricken and almost silent city of Caen, French State funds, hidden since the Germgins invaded Caen four years ago, began emerging,” reports a correspondent of the North American Newspaper Alliance. “Where or how the money was hidden, or how it was kept secure during the searches that not only the Germans but the Vichy authorities must have made, cannot immediately be disclosed. Frenchmen who know tho story believe there must be other loyal municipal officials who concealed State funds, and who do not wish to give the Germans or Vichy any clue to the method involved.”
