TENANTS FOR STATE HOUSES IN KAIKOURA.
The County Chairman (Mr F. J. Monk), in an advertisement in this issue. invited those desiring to become tenants of State houses, to make application for same not later than August 31, as it is intended to make further application to the Government to erect a number of houses. Those in need of ho-uses have an opportunity of gaining homes, but this cannot be done if applications are not received and the people co-operate with the County Council. At least thirty houses are required in Kaikoura to accommodate people who have been waiting for a long, time to secure buildings. The opportunity is now. and the more applications that are received the better chance of getting sufficient houses erected.
