RAM AND EWE FAIR.

A SUCCESSFUL SALE. Notwithstanding the prediction that the price of sheep would be down for the Kaikoura March sale, prices realised at the ram and ewe fair on Monday were considered satisfactory in most cases, and the sale was looked upon as a good one. A line of 69 two tooth ewes which were offered at the previous sale and passed in at 21/, made 29/ on Monday, this being a line on account of 1. Slape. P. Smith secured 27/ for a line of 48 two tooths, F. J. Monk 26/ for 8. The highest price for wethers was 24/9, sold on account of F. J. Monk, E. Gibson securing 24/6 for two, F. Smith coming next with a line of 10 at 23/3. F. J. Monk also secured top price for lambs, 39 wether at 20/.

Payne, of Blenheim, secured top price for five Suffolk at 8 guineas each, others of his entry realising 3 at 4, 1 at 5, 3 at 53, 1 at 4, ,and 1 at 3£ guineas; Romneys made to 4s, Southdown to 4, and Halfbreds 1 guinea.
