Allegations of extraordinary carelessness by some dairy produce factories, which hud caused complaints by some of Neu Zealand’s best customers for butter and cheese, were made by Sir .Tames Piirr, ■ formerly New Zealand High Commissioner in London, on his arrival in Auckland. Sir Janies said that big users of New Zealand dairy produce had given instances to him of extraneous articles being found by them in our butter and cheese through sheer carelessness by certain factories. Cm* produced a cheese, with a scrubbing brush in the centre, which had got there in the process of manufac turc. The same firm brought to him an eu' plopo full of brotken glass which had been part of a. thermometer. It was extracted from some New Zealand butter.
